•  Rome Memorial Hospital designated an ACR Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

Rome Memorial Hospital’s Women’s Imaging Center is proud to have been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR), which validates the hospital’s commitment to the highest quality standards in imaging. The hospital received the prestigious achievement by earning ACR accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, and breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy) and breast MRI.

Rome Memorial Hospital’s team of experienced and highly trained medical imaging technologists and radiologists are led by John Restivo, M.D., radiologist and chairman of the hospital’s Medical Imaging Department. Board certified by the American Board of Diagnostic Radiology, Dr. Restivo has served patients at Rome Memorial Hospital since 1997.

“The staff and leadership in the Medical Imaging Department at Rome Memorial Hospital, along with Dr. Restivo and all of our radiologists deserve the credit for this designation,” said Mark Snyderman, vice president of planning/outpatient services. “This accomplishment is the result of years of persistent pursuit of excellence in all aspects of breast imaging and biopsy.”

Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, determined that Rome Memorial Hospital’s Woman’s Imaging Center has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.

“Since the Women’s Imaging Center opened in September of 2009, we have remained on the leading edge of advanced technology for women’s breast care needs, adding new services, new equipment and new computer software to get the best possible images. Complementing the investments in technology is a team of professionals who truly care about our patients.” said Sharon Carson, director of the Medical Imaging Department at the hospital. “Being named a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence is a wonderful acknowledgement of what we have been striving for since day one.”

The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 37,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
