Becoming a volunteer at Rome
Memorial Hospital can be a rewarding experience. Your
talents and passion to help others will complement our
professional staff, ensuring every patient's stay is a
pleasant one. Volunteering provides you with the
opportunity to utilize your current skills or gain new
ones in areas of interest to you.
We strive to make assignments
that balance the needs of the hospital with your areas
of interest. Understanding the need for flexible
scheduling, volunteers are assigned during the day,
evening or weekend.
We have a need for volunteers
in both clinical and non-clinical areas. Some volunteer
job titles include:
o
Patient Care Area
Assistant
o
Patient Escort/Errand
Runner
o
RHCF Activity Helper
o
Clerical
Assistant/Typist
o
Patient Greeter
The New York State Health
Department requires that we have the following health
information on file for all volunteers. You are
required to provide:
o
Your immunization
records showing that you have had two shots for Measles,
Mumps, and Rubella (MMR), or if you were born before
1956, proof of immunity to Rubella. (1 shot or a blood
test)
o
Copy of a physical done
within one year
o
A mantoux (TB) test
done within a year
We have openings for a limited
number of student volunteers. Students must be at least
14 years old and submit the following documents:
o
Your immunization
record, showing that you have had 2 Rubella (3-day
measles) and 2 Rubeola (measles) shots
o
Your working papers
o
A physical done within
1 year or a statement from your doctor saying you are
free of communicable disease and volunteering will not
harm your health
o
Permission slip signed
by parent or guardian
o
A mantoux (TB) test
done within a year
