Therapy Department
Personalized therapy, one-on-one care.
People work hard and play hard and at times those activities result in injury. The aging process can also take its toll on the body increasing the risk of falls, stroke, and arthritis. We offer physical and occupational therapy to help restore the greatest level of function possible so you can get back to doing the things you enjoy.
Based upon your diagnosis and physician’s order, we start with a
thorough evaluation to develop your individualized treatment plan and
discuss prevention techniques. Your individualized treatment plan may include hands-on therapeutic
exercise, traction, ultrasound, electric stimulation and other
therapeutic methods. The goals are to help reduce your pain, increase
your range of motion, and rebuild your body’s function and mobility.
Our
therapists also help fit patients with wheelchairs, coordinate services
for orthotic devices and adaptive equipment and retrain patients in
skills for daily living.
Therapy services are available at two locations. At our off-site center, Chestnut Commons Physical Therapy and
Rehabilitation Center, professionals provide a broad range of physical
therapy services in a modern 6,000 square-foot facility located at 107
E. Chestnut Street. Therapist at the center are well-known for their
expertise in treating back and neck pain.
Rome Memorial Hospital’s Therapy Department at its main campus is located in the lower level of the hospital. The therapists provide treatment
to patients who need therapy in our long-term care facility and acute
care units, as well as to outpatients who visit our facility for regular
appointments. The department has the advantage of being able to offer physical, occupational and speech therapy in one convenient location for patients who need all three types of therapy after a stroke or other injury or illness.
