Trust your hometown team to get you back into action!

Whether you’re a star athlete or a casual golfer, we understand your sense of urgency to get back into the action. Our goal is to help you regain your function and mobility while alleviating pain so you can enjoy the things you love to do.

Elemer Raffai, M.D., and Mitchell Rubinovich, M.D., specialize in the complete care of the musculoskeletal system, including the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of injuries to the muscles, bones, joints, tendons and ligaments in patients of all ages.

They are experienced and specially trained to perform general orthopedic, sports medicine, arthroscopic and total joint replacement procedures, including the latest ceramic on ceramic replacements and the antero-lateral approach to hip replacement surgery.

When surgery is the best option to relieve your joint pain, we offer a comprehensive total joint replacement program in cooperation with the physical therapists at Rome Memorial Hospital. We use advanced surgical techniques including a computer-assisted navigation system to map out the patient's anatomy on a computer for a better custom fit for knee replacements.

Together, the team has more than 40 years of experience in orthopedics and sports medicine. Both surgeons completed their training in Canada and are board certified in orthopedics by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.

A native of Montreal, Canada, Dr. Raffai earned his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry at McGill University and graduated from medical school at the University of Montreal, where he completed his residency in orthopedics. Board certified, he is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.

Dr. Raffai was in private practice for 12 years in Eunice, LA., where he also served as the official team doctor for the Ice Gators, a semi-pro hockey team and high school sports teams. He also trained medical students and orthopedic residents at the Louisiana State University Medical Center.

Dr. Rubinovich earned his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. After completing his surgical internship and residency at the Royal Victoria Hospital, he gained additional training as a research and clinical fellow of sports medicine at the Nova Scotia Sport Medicine Clinic, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

He is board certified as a fellow of the Royal College of Surgery in orthopedics. A fellow of the American College of Surgery, he also received his diploma in sports medicine from the Canadian Academy of Sports Medicine. Dr. Rubinovich was a former health advisor to the Canadian Olympic Sports team.
