• Understanding Your Bill

    Many people do not realize there may be several separate bills for care received during a hospital stay. The hospital will issue a bill for its services. Physicians will issue you a bill for services they provided during your stay.
    The hospital’s bill for inpatient stay covers:

    • The room
    • 24-hour nursing care
    • All meals, snacks and beverages
    • Linens
    • Medical supplies
    • Medications
    • Diagnostic testing
    • Medical treatments


    In addition, you may receive separate bills from:

    • Your primary care physician
    • Emergency Department physician if you were treated there first
    • Radiologist who read your x-rays
    • Pathologist who examined blood or tissue specimens
    • Surgeon
    • Anesthesiologist
    • Physician consultants
