Helping to Heal Broken Lives

Alcohol and drug abuse disrupts the lives of the abuser and those who care about him or her. However, treatment does work.

The Community Recovery Center (CRC) of Rome Memorial Hospital was established in 1991 as an outpatient clinic that provides quality, comprehensive alcohol and substance abuse treatment.  Services are geared to meeting the biological, psychological, social and spiritual needs of individuals and their families.

trained professionals provide confidential counseling

For individuals and their families, alcohol and substance abuse is a sensitive matter.  That's why it is so important that the counselors you turn to for help can be trusted to offer confidential and compassionate care.  Located at 264 W. Dominick Street, the CRC prides itself on the qualifications  of its staff.  All of the members of the clinical staff at CRC are Qualified Health Professionals, which is rare in any substance abuse treatment facility.

Several of the certified alcohol and substance abuse counselors are also licensed in other areas and function in roles that bring their individual strengths to the people they serve.  The CRC is certified by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).

young and old battle substance abuse

Substance abuse does not discriminate.  Although most clients are 20 to 40 years old, our counselors serve a broad spectrum of ages from 11 year olds to people over 70.  The scope of services includes:

  • Evaluation & Assessment

  • Individual & Group Counseling

  • Inpatient Referrals

Clients undergo several levels of care based on their individual needs and treatment plan.  Success is measured by attendance, participation and attainment of the goals defined in the client's treatment plan.  Participation in appropriate self-help programs is encouraged.  Client's families are encouraged to participate  in treatment.  In fact, programs are geared to helping with co-dependency issues and counseling adult children of alcoholics.

More intensive treatment includes relapse prevention, working with the 12-step recovery process and anger management.  Community Recovery Center clients who have successfully undergone intensive treatment often find participation in an early recovery group or an aftercare group valuable.

specialized programs for special needs

Community Recovery Center services continue to gain momentum and branch out to meet the specific needs of our community. Our programs include:

  • Impaired professionals program for professional individuals who are having difficulty with substance abuse.

  • Dual Focus Program for those experiencing both psychiatric disorders and chemical dependency problems.

  • Gender specific programs for women and men.

  • Adolescent Program to get teens the help they need.

The adolescent program, in particular, has made significant strides due to increased outreach efforts by Community Recovery Center staff to schools and other community service agencies and task forces that deal with teens.  There are usually between 20-25 adolescents in treatment at any given time at the Community Recovery Center.

help is just a phone call away

Community Recovery Center is open weekdays at 8 a.m. and closes Monday and Friday at 4 p.m., Tuesday - Thursday at  9 p.m.  Clients can call the Community Recovery Center directly or be referred by their physician, employer, employee assistance program, schools, county social service offices or other treatment providers.  The facility has no waiting list.  At the initial time of a call from a potential client or referral source an appointment is made.
