residential healthcare facility
helping residents feel at home
A cat pads softly down the hall...vegetables grow on the
patio...
If
this sounds a little like home, that's because it is!
Rome Memorial Hospital's Residential Healthcare Facility
is home to many people who need compassionate assistance
with their activities of daily life.
While
delivering quality long-term skilled nursing care, the 80-bed facility provides the comforts
of home. Residents are encouraged to make their
rooms their own. Pictures of children and
grandchildren adorn the walls. Many residents
bring other furnishings and mementos to really create a
home-like atmosphere.
The
facility also has pets to brighten the lives of its
residents. Cats
roam freely through the third floor stopping by to visit
anyone they think needs a little extra attention.
Birds and an aquarium filled with fish complete
the menagerie. In addition, family members are welcome
to bring the residents' pets in for an occasional visit.
Keeping residents as active as possible is an important
part of the facility's philosophy. Residents are
provided with the necessary equipment to allow the most
mobility.
In
addition, the activity director works diligently to
provide opportunities for the residents to sty active.
She plans discussions,
music and exercise programs, as well as outings, celebrations, and
cooking programs.
Rome Memorial
Hospital's third floor is also home to its sub-acute rehabilitation
program for patients who need physical, occupational and/or speech
therapy to help them regain their independence so they can go home.
