physical & occupational therapy
Personalized therapy, one-on-one care
People work hard and play hard and at times those
activities result in injury. The aging process can also
take its toll on the body increasing the risk of falls,
stroke, and arthritis.
We
offer physical and occupational therapy for inpatients
and outpatients to help restore the greatest level of
function possible so you can get back to doing the
things you enjoy.
Treatment plans are individualized and may include
hands-on therapeutic exercise, traction, ultrasound,
electric stimulation and other therapeutic methods. The
goals are to help reduce your pain, increase your range
of motion, and rebuild your body’s function and
mobility.
Our
therapists also help fit patients with wheelchairs,
coordinate services for orthotic devices and adaptive
equipment and retrain patients in skills for daily
living.
Based
upon your diagnosis and physician’s order, we start with
a thorough evaluation to develop your individualized
treatment plan and discuss prevention techniques.
Two
Locations to Serve You
Rome
Memorial Hospital’s Therapy Department at its main
campus is located in the lower level of the hospital at
1500 N. James St. The department has the advantage of
being able to offer physical, occupational and speech
therapy in one convenient location for patients who need
all three types of therapy after a stroke or other
injury or illness.
The
therapists provide treatment to patients who are
hospitalized in our 14-bed rehabilitation unit,
long-term care facility and acute care units, as well as
to outpatients who visit our facility for regular
appointments.
Professionals at our off-site center provide a broad range of physical therapy services
and are well-known for their expertise in treating back and
neck pain. Chestnut Commons Physical Therapy and
Rehabilitation
Center is located at 107 E. Chestnut Street, in a modern
6,000 square-foot facility.
Thomas K. Wick, P.T., Dip. MDT, is one of a select
number of physical therapists in the nation with a
diploma in the McKenzie approach of mechanical diagnosis
and therapy. As a trained McKenzie clinician, he can
perform evaluation and treatment techniques to educate
patients in the self-treatment of their spinal
problems. The McKenzie method can help reduce the
frequency of episodes and the need for continuous
medical interventions.
