Engelbert’s teams up with jewelry
designer
to benefit hospital’s new Emergency
Department
Engelbert’s Jewelers is hosting jewelry designer Alisa
Unger Thursday, Dec. 9, in its Rome store, 265 W.
Dominick St., to mark her inaugural debut. Ten percent
of Unger’s sales from the event will be donated to the
Rome Memorial Hospital Foundation in support of the
hospital’s new Emergency Department.
The designer, who grew up in the jewelry business, will
be available from noon to 7:30 p.m. to help customers
select pieces from her collection. “Because jewelry is
her life, Alisa has a special eye to help people select
a piece of jewelry that really flatters their individual
features,” said her husband Jeff.
Alisa’s designs include chandelier earrings and
necklaces, diamond rings for any occasion and unique
bracelets at retail prices approximately $350 to
$3,000. Her designs will be featured in the Dec. 3
edition of People Magazine. They were selected
by the Independent Jewelers Organization to represent
jewelers across the country.
Alisa works in both 14 and 18 karat white, yellow and
rose gold. Each piece is carefully crafted to show off
its’ own unique brilliance and splendor.
As part of her national unveiling, Alisa said she wanted
more than a trunk sale so she decided to thank two of
the stores that helped her gain public recognition with
special events that would benefit their respective
communities.
“Engelbert’s has carried my company’s products for many
years and have supported me well over the last six to
eight months with my own designs,” Alisa said,
explaining that Sarah Engelbert Rushton named Rome
Memorial Hospital as the beneficiary of the event. “I
think if you’re going to go into a community, you should
be able to help that community directly.”
“The event is a wonderful opportunity for people to
purchase truly stunning jewelry for the women on their
holiday shopping list, while supporting a worthy cause,”
Sarah said. “I selected the hospital because I knew
100% of the money would stay in Rome and the Emergency
Department benefits everyone.”
“We’re very grateful to Alisa and the Engelberts for
creating this unique opportunity to benefit our
campaign,” said Joelle Taylor, executive director of the
Rome Memorial Hospital Foundation. This event is just
one more example of the Engelberts’ support for the
hospital and its foundation. In addition to making a
generous contribution to the capital campaign,
Engelbert’s has a long tradition of sponsoring the
annual foundation ball and donating jewelry for the
silent auction.
The Foundation’s “Building a Better Tomorrow” campaign
has raised more than $2.6 million towards it $3 million
goal. The new Emergency Department is expected to open
in 2006.
