Rome Memorial Hospital Emergency Department Expansion
focus of Hospital’s Senior Live & Learn program
ROME – “The Expansion
of the Rome Memorial Hospital Emergency Department”
will be the October topic of Rome Memorial Hospital’s
monthly Senior Live & Learn program, a free educational
outreach program designed for seniors. Mark Snyderman,
assistant vice president of planning and outpatient
services, will present the program to the public on
Thursday, Oct. 14th at 12:30 p.m. at the Ava Dorfman Senior Civic Center in
Rome.
Snyderman will speak
about the hospital’s new $10.5 million emergency
department which is slated for completion in 2006.
“This new emergency room will provide our community with
reduced waiting time and a more comfortable and private
environment,” said Snyderman.
Snyderman said that the
hospital’s emergency department will nearly triple in
size to 10,500-square feet and will almost double the
number of treatment rooms from 8 to 14. The new design
also features two fast-track rooms for patients whose
needs are not as emergent as those with life-threatening
injuries or illnesses. Other highlights include a
larger patient waiting area, larger treatment rooms and
dedicated space for ambulance and security personnel.
To improve safety, there will be a dedicated ambulance
bay separate from the entrance for patients arriving on
their own.
Pre-registration is not
required to attend the program.
