ROME –The Rome Memorial Hospital Foundation has appointed four new board members, announced Board President William F. “We are very pleased that these four professionals have joined our board,” said Tracy.  “They are interested in furthering the mission of the Foundation and will bring new ideas and creativity to our board,” said Tracy.

The Rome Memorial Hospital Foundation supports the not-for-profit Rome Memorial Hospital, which treats patients regardless of their ability to pay.  The Foundation’s mission is to help offset decreasing reimbursements and increasing costs in order to continue to provide quality healthcare to the greater Rome community.

Smith has been a nurse at Rome Memorial Hospital for over 29 years and brings extensive knowledge of the hospital and clinical operations to the board.  “Shirley is known for her outstanding attitude and leadership abilities,” said hospital President and Chief Executive Officer Darlene Burns, MS, RN.  Smith has been the recipient of the Clinical Employee of the Year, the Supervisor of the Year and the C.A.R.E. award.  She was co-chair of the Foundation’s first Annual Employee Giving Campaign, which garnered over $15,000 for the Foundation.  Smith resides in Lee with husband John.

Isley has been a commercial lender with M&T Bank since 1999.  “His knowledge of finance, the banking industry and business will help ensure excellence in the stewardship of the Foundation’s endowment,” said Tracy.  He holds an master’s in business administration from the University of Rochester’s Simon School of Business.  Prior to joining M&T Bank, Isley was a financial analyst with Prudential Insurance Company of America, Newark, NJ. He resides in Manlius with his wife, Joelle, and three children.

Atkinson held various supervisory positions with Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation for over 42 years.  “Jack brought vision and energy to the steering committee for our 2006 Ball & Auction,” said Executive Director Kerr Flanders.  Atkinson will also be serving on the steering committee for the 2007 event.  He resides in Clinton with his wife Rosemel, practice administrator for the Rome Medical Group.

As the technical representative for Virgin America at Empire Aero, Rome, Samuel oversees aircraft maintenance and engineering.  Prior to joining Virgin America, Samuel was engineering director with Airbus operator Air Deccan. Samuel and his wife, Joice Samuel, MD, a pediatrician, reside in Rome with their daughter Saya.

In addition to these four new board members, the Rome Memorial Hospital Foundation board is comprised of: William F. Tracy, president of Sagemark, Rome; Dale Kinne, realtor with First Rome Realty, Rome; Jane Macior, CPCU, ARM, Brown & Brown Insurance; Steve Sislo, ChFC, broker, Sislo Investments; Darlene Burns, MS, RN, president and Chief Executive Officer, Rome Memorial Hospital; Charles Getty, retired; Nicholas Mayhew, assistant vice president of finance/support services, Rome Memorial Hospital; Bob Mortis, director of performing arts, Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute; Mark E. The Rome Memorial Hospital Foundation recently conducted a capital campaign for the hospital’s new Emergency Department, with over $3.2 million contributed by donors and the community.  This was the largest capital campaign ever conducted in the city of Rome.  “The Foundation is looking forward to leading fundraising efforts to enable the hospital to continue its expansion and improvement program,” said Flanders.
