Communicating about Your Health Focus of Hospital’s Senior Live & Learn program ROME – “Talking to your Healthcare Provider” will be the October topic of Rome Memorial Hospital’s monthly Senior Live & Learn program, a free educational outreach program designed for seniors. ` Julie Chrysler, Rome Memorial Hospital’s community health educator and volunteer coordinator, will present the program on Thursday, October 12 at 12:30 p.m. at the Ava Dorfman Senior Citizens Civic Center, 305 E. Locust St. “With all the options in healthcare today, it is important for people to understand how to communicate clearly with their healthcare providers,” Julie said. “Asking the right questions about procedures, medications and available services helps individuals make the right choices.” Chrysler will talk about successful health communication, including tips on: Understanding instructions on medications Accessing needed services Obtaining healthcare coverage and benefits
“Everyone needs help understanding health information at some point,” said Julie. “Knowing whom to talk to and asking the right questions can help you live a healthier life.” Chrysler has a bachelor of science degree in education and a master of science in health education. Julie has been an employee of Rome Memorial Hospital since 1997. She recently joined the Education Department after working at Boonville Family Care, a Rome Memorial Hospital primary health care facility. The program is open to the public.
