Add Foot Exams to your List of Free Screenings at Rome Memorial Hospital’s Annual Community Health Fair

ROME – In addition to the many other free screenings that Rome Memorial Hospital has previously announced for its annual Community Health Fair on April 1st, attendees can add free foot exams to their list.  Dr. Wendy Shara from FootDoctors in Rome will offer free foot exams from 9 to 11 a.m.  The health fair is being held at the hospital from 8 to 11 a.m.

“We want to provide the community of Rome with as many free screenings as possible at this health fair because our focus is on prevention and early detection,” said organizer and hospital Director of Education Gale Barone, B.S., R.N. Barone said that other free screenings include blood tests for total cholesterol and glucose (8-hour fasting is required) and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) for men 50 and over, colorectal cancer, depression, blood pressure, vision, body fat analysis and foot exams.  There will also be free massages offered.

In addition, there will be over 35 educational displays where visitors can pick up informational handouts on topics including: Medicare Part D, advanced directives, osteoporosis, stroke, healthy lifestyle, heart disease, substance abuse, and breast cancer.  A number of free samples and giveaways will be available.

Advance registration is not required to attend the free community health fair.  Refreshments will be served.  For more information, please call the Education Department at 338-7143.
