Rome Memorial Hospital’s nurse recruitment brochure earns two national awards ROME – Rome Memorial Hospital’s nurse recruitment brochure earned two national awards for excellence in healthcare marketing. The publication was honored with a 2006 Silver Aster Award and the bronze award from Healthcare Marketing Report’s 23rd Annual Healthcare Advertising awards program. Building on the theme of Become Part of a Nursing Team That Really Cares, the 14-page publication invites nurses of excellence to choose Rome Memorial Hospital as their employer. The publication was written and coordinated by Public Relations Assistant Director Ann Walseman and designed by Claude Schuyler, vice president/creative director at Paige Marketing Communications Group, Utica. Photography was by Hal Silverman, Syracuse. Anson Graphics of Syracuse printed the publication. The winners of the Healthcare Marketing Report 23rd Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards were published in its May issue and the Aster awards are in the May/June issue of “Marketing Healthcare Today,” a trade publication for healthcare executives and marketing professionals. “Rome Memorial Hospital exhibited outstanding excellence in healthcare marketing scoring in the top 12% of the judging process,” said Randy Lucas, corporate director of the Aster Awards Program. “It was an honor to have Rome Memorial Hospital participate in this year’s competition producing such world-class marketing materials.” With over 2,500 entries this year in the Aster Awards Program, competition was intense. In Healthcare Marketing Report’s 23rd Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards, over 3,850 entries were received. “Our nurses are what make this publication compelling. In their own words, they share why they enjoy working at Rome Memorial Hospital. Encouraging others to join our team, the nurses describe the family-like environment, safe nurse-to-patient ratios, educational opportunities, and being part of a community hospital that provides quality healthcare,” said Walseman. “Today’s nurses are looking for more than competitive benefits and compensation. We are able to provide these professional men and women with a supportive environment where their critical thinking skills are valued.” “The publication also highlights all that the Mohawk Valley offers to those who choose to live and work here,” Walseman said. “Our nurses value the quality of life that they are able to enjoy as residents of the Mohawk Valley. They tout the reasonable cost of living, easy commute to and from work and the four seasons. This is a safe place to raise a family with easy access to major cities and tourism destinations. In the Mohawk Valley and Rome Memorial Hospital, our nurses found a great place to live and work.” Ms. Walseman joined the hospital’s Public Relations Department in 2001 after working at the international architecture and engineering firm of Harza Engineering Company as regional marketing manager. She graduated from Utica College of Syracuse University with a bachelor of arts degree in public relations and journalism and Morrisville College with an associate of applied science degree in journalism.
