The Rome Twigs volunteer organization coordinates the rental of television and telephone service. Patients can activate the service by contacting the switchboard operator by dialing “0” on their bedside phone.

The daily rate for each is $3, regardless of the time of day the service is activated. If you want both services, the cost is $5 per day. A Rome Twig volunteer will visit you to collect the fees.

The Twigs provide free television service to the Pediatrics Department, the Intensive Care Unit and the Labor and Delivery areas of the Maternity Unit, as well as in public waiting areas and lounges.

Telephones are provided at each patient’s bedside except in the ICU.  Patients may receive in-coming calls between 7:30 a.m. and 10 p.m.  If the phone is not picked up within three rings, the call will be transferred to the switchboard.

Cell phones are only permitted in designated areas of the hospital because they interfere with our medical equipment.  Designated areas are the main lobby on the first floor and the cafeteria located in the basement.
